Hey thanks for boiling this down for us in such a concise manner. I'm now convinced! I'm going to sell my car, stop farting, and breath through a catalytic converter.

Now I can sleep tonight. Thanks!

I have enough sense to know when I'd be wasting my time.

The new CF 7 series must be much more expensive than the current f01 7.

The structure is mainly aluminium but features a mix of press-hardened steel and CFRP at the non-load bearing structural elements. The resulting weight-loss is highly significant against the current F01 7er.

Because of BMW's significant investment into CFRP manufacturing and production in mass volume. This is BMW's advantage over its competitors.
CFRP (for BMW) will be more widespread and cost effective to use on a wide variety of next generation models.

With the 7er, BMW are aiming that the bootlid , bonnet , doorskins and roof panel will be CFRP giving BMW a main advantage in the use of CFRP in a luxury car.
It's to hope, that the manufacturing costs of the carbon panels will sink according to plans.
Personally I'm not interested in such a huge yacht as the 7er; I like shorter cars.

The new 5er with carbon panels (boot lid, bonnet, door and roof panels) would be an amazing car. It would weight as much as the current 3er; the result would be a completely different driving dynamics and the feeling of the car body movement would catapult the new 5er in a completely new dimension.

Considering that Mercedes is going to make the new 2014 C class 15-20cm longer (spaghetti project; narrow and long) and thus heavier, such a lightweight 5er would make both E and C class obsolete and antiquated.
