The 7 is def. more my style, When I am in one of my 7's, I don't care what the outside world is doing -- Im just relaxed and in my own atmosphere, enjoying Goldfrapp or something and not worrying about how fast I get to the destination because I enjoy the car so much. The 7 makes me feel good, sort of like an automotive Jacuzzi. It's actually made me a much better driver too.

I think of the 7 as my personal luxury yacht, just rolling down the road, looking nice without being imposing and having a composed, refined and stately allure about it.

That's why I bought 3 - different interiors for every mood (all my favorites) but the same ambiance every time, nothing weird to learn or different functionality to master.
I agree with your description completely. Awesome cars. Good for you. Enjoy and God bless.

Does the long wheelbase drive better than short? If so, how so?

Yes, it most certainly does. It's more luxurious, less sporty. The short wheel base drives more like my 550i did, especially with the larger 20" wheels. The long wheel base is just obnoxiously luxurious and smooth. You really have to drive them both to get "it" but "it" is obvious right away.

I see you say it's less sporty, but does the short ride sacrifice a lot of luxury compared to long, wish I had the time to test drive both. My ideal config would be sport with 19s, 20s are too harsh for my local roads.

The 20's are harsh in general, I like the 19s. I like my short 7 but I like longer trips in my long 7's better. What you sacrifice is rear seat legroom and overall dynamics of the car -- the long 7 just plain drives better, if you like a smoother more relaxed ride. The short 7 is more on par with the 5, so I think the 5 would be a better investment unless you like the features and design of the 7.

If I were only choosing one car and not three, I would hands down, go for the long wheel base. I have all of them and the long 7 is just my preference everyday. It's not hard to drive or shoot around town in, it's just perfect.

I don't think I've ever read or heard anyone say the 7 is on par with 5 as far as the ride is concerned. But then again I've never read or heard or seen anyone with three 7s before. . I would have thought the suspension and a gazillion of other differences between the 7 and 5 would not even put the two cars in the same sentence ....

The 7 is very different from the 5, but I have had both in my garage at the same time and the reason I sold the 5 was because I just plain liked the 7 much more. My point was, the 750 short wheel base drove very similarly to my 550i sedan and has just about the same backseat room as the 5 sedan did. If you were to drive the 5 blindfolded and the short 7 blindfolded (shouldn't do that) you wouldn't notice much of a difference either. The 5 seemed to have sloppier steering than the 7. Both my 550 sedan and the 750 swb have the 20" tires, which probably adds most of what I attribute to similar drive style. My long wheel base 7's have the 19's and ride much, much better. I prefer the 19's hands down. Think of the short 7 as a sport boat in driving character and the long 7 as a motor yacht with a punchy engine.

I liked my 5 but I was never in love with it, the 7 is a totally different story, obviously.

I just sold my f10 2011 550ix for a 2013 750ix. Since the 750ix is only 6 inches longer, i sometimes forget that I'm in a 7. But overall the difference in suspension, handling and ride is much better even on the 20's. The engine is a big improvement with no lag and the sound of the engine is better when you push it.. The rear leg room is much better than the f10. Its not the same as the f10.

I sorta always thought of the 7 as the quintessential BMW. Roomy, luxurious with a ton of performance baked in. 5 series, regardless of the motor, never quite spoke to me as much. I test drove each flavor of the 5 over the last few years, each just seemed ...ordinary ....

I never thought I would be driving a 7. My f10 550ix lease ended and was really looking for a LCI f10 with the n63tu. I got presented an offer I couldn't refuse for this demo 750ix. Fully loaded even with the Individual Msport black piano trim. The piano trim makes the interior looks so modern. So far its been great! I love big cars!

I am in the coffee business for fun, I own rental property (8 apartment buildings) between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The Coffee business keeps me happy and grounded, the rental business (dealing with constant issues) can really be a headache, but thats why you have a management company!

I worked with Apple briefly, in the late 90's. One of the most fun experiences I can talk about.
