50% Tinted Windows?
A very difficult decision: 50's or 40's?
I'm most concerned about getting that classy 'look' of lightly tinted windows and I'm less concerned with people being / not being able to see into the car, although I don't want it to look as though there is no tint at all, but I don't want people to be easily able to see through at night either, if this makes any sense! I just left my dealership requesting 50's, but I'm now second guessing the decision. Problem being: I haven't been able to find a car with 50's to see same in person myself, but I believe I've seen them in the past, but with no owner present, so I wasn't able to inquire into the percentage. Please help! Last edited by dbs600; 01-07-2011 at 08:30 PM.. |

You could always ask the dealership to get a sample of either the 40 or 50% material the installer will use. You can then hold it against the inside of the window and have a look how much light still goes through and what it will look like. You should do that soon though BEFORE they install anything you might not like later!

Thank you for the prompt reply xDrive. I just e-mailed my service advisor, asking him what days of the week the tinter comes in and whether or not I can meet with him. I know it's largely a matter of personal preference, but if anyone has either 40's or 50's on their cars and has any insight into this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again!

I see this thread has resurfaced and wanted to update everyone that I did in fact go with the 50's and that they are perfect! Exactly the look I was going for: dark enough to notice, but light enough that you can still see through; very classy.
