Considering a M760li 2017 UK - Reliability?

Hi

Just sold my M8 and previously had an M5/540i/G11 730/M6/520/X5/640d

Basically although most have been under warranty when I've had them, I've pretty much had 0 issues with any of them, at least nothing over minor rattles or things like that.

I'm taking some time off work, and have downgraded my M8 and planning to get a G12. I'd like a M760li but I don't know much about the reliability of them. It's not a massive problem if there are small issues but my other option would be a 740li and I know a lot about those engines etc so I know their weak points. I know not a lot about the V12.

Any pointers? Also is the MPG going to be worse than my M8 haha, don't think it could get much worse to be honest!

I cant answer your questions but have to say the 760 is a rare beast, I’ve only knowingly seen 1

Must be a magnificent engine , smoothness of a inline 6 with the torque of a v8

I don’t know but would imagine you’d struggle to get into the twenties mpg wise

There are some reviews of it on YouTube including a run on the autobahn at top speed

Ive got one for two years now and didnt have any issues with it. Considering it was their flagship at the time and shares a number of components with the RR Ghost, they would have meticulously engineered it. Fuel economy i have seen 30+ on the motorway driving like a saint and about 12 in stop start traffic. The weak point on the M760li have to be brakes, they are not bad but just not great

The V12 is an extremely reliable platform. The N74 engine has been in production for quite some time and is one of the best v12 engines made to date. The fact it is used in multiple RR vehicles should be a testament to its engineering. Mine has been trouble free so far.

I typically get around 22-24 mpg highway cruising at 75-80 mph. Probably 13 mpg city or aggressive driving.

The only issues I see long term would be those typical of the G11/12 platform, rather than engine related.

Another U.K. owner here. Can’t be many of us.

Had mine about 2.5 years and added 22k miles to it. Had some work done, including air suspension, but that’s probably not a surprise. Engine is fine so far. Pulls like a train and I still haven’t found the top end. Feels good up to about 180.

Seems odd to discuss MPG in this context, but it’s better than I expected, especially on a Europe trip. Bear in mind we have bigger gallons, so we do better than our US cousins.

Only a few for sale at the moment here. Used to be nearly 40, but under a third of that now.
