Idrive screen blank but radio and parking sensors working

Hi,

I am new to the forum and appreciate any help and guidance.

I was trying to enable the full screen Apple CarPlay. A friend used his Carly app and could not locate the full screen CarPlay setting. He did turn on the video in motion.

He was doing some wrapping and car doors were left open.

I collected the car and noticed that idrive screen was not working. Turns on but is blank, although the radio and parking sensors work. We tried doing reset but nothing worked.

He tried restoring the original back up using the Carly app but was not successful.

Any ideas on what the issue is or what can be done to rectify this.

Hi, and welcome!

I am afraid that you are another victim of Carly. BMW's really should not be coded with anything other than manufacturer software. There are so many cases where Carly or BimmerCode or what ever has messed up coding files.

In your case, the good news is that head unit should be okay and can be recovered. What has happened, is that in Carly's usual manner, it has botched up the deployment of cafd (coding data) file and that is causing your NBT to not function. New cafd has to be injected via ESYS or head unit coded/flashed via ISTA.

If you have ENET cable i can restore the coding data remotely.

TheNine90 many thanks for your kind offer. I had purchased the Enet cable but did not know what I was doing so ended up paying someone £80 to restore this.
