Bonjour,

There is no specific coding to do in the Bdc, I repeat the most important is to recover the two modules which are inside the original steering wheel which will be repositioned in the new steering wheel with the wiring of the original flywheel, to make two extentions for 2 wires which will supply the heated flywheel.

Why take back the modules, Bmw do not give any information on these modules, moreover if you do not put them back you risk multiple errors of the assistant, pedestrian detection, BDC errors, ditto for the airbag, check that the one -It is double-stage (it can also depend on the version of the vehicle and its year of manufacture because there are three types of Airbag single-stage, double-stage and triple-stage) because otherwise there too Airbag error s' will display on Idrive.

As far as the shifts-paddles are concerned, my vehicle was already equipped with them, so I did not make any changes I already had the 2TB in the FA code.

When I reassembled my Msport steering wheel, no errors appeared and everything works perfectly, it's a bit like plug & play.

Exept, the only thing is that my vehicle did not have the heated steering wheel trigger control on the steering wheel but on the steering column, there I did not change or modify the control but when I trigger it on the column button the steering wheel heats up perfectly and is fully operational

If you have 2019+ Software there is a coding which lets you choose which button activates steering wheel heating (On the steering wheel or on the steering column). I have changed it and now my steering wheel is heated from the front of the steering wheel.

For non paddle to paddle retrofit, can anyone confirm:
  • Wiring - SZL connector a83*2b, pin 3 to BDC connector a258*7b, pin 5
  • Coding - Remove 205, VO code 2TB

Thanks!

Yes on the wiring, and for coding you can just turn pedals_verbaut in bdc to aktiv, no need to vo code

That’s handy. My dealer said it wasn’t possible to retrofit a paddle shift wheel to a (my) non factory paddle shift car.

I have 2018 G12 in the USA, without Heated wheel option. Do I have to get the module to instal LCI heated wheel steering wheel as well if I want to add Heated wheel? (Beside getting dual stage airbag) TYIA

Hi, can you let us know what parameter you had to code to make the front heating button work? I have done the same conversion but I get the button not installed DTC and pressing it does nothing. 248 was added in FA. Thanks

Solved!

I managed to make the M sport steering wheel work including activation of heating button on the steering wheel.

For those interested, when switching from a 'sport' to an 'm sport' steering wheel the BDC will report some 'wrong variant' DTCs.

All you need to do is code the M sport steering wheel (710) and perform the calibration of the touch sensor with ISTA.

In my case I switched form a non-heated sport wheel to a heated M sport. I had to remove the 255 option and add 248 and 710.
