Smoke white leather protection. Gyeon, Colourlock, Etc?

Hello all,

I have a 740 xdrive arriving in the next two weeks and I am concerned about protecting and maintaining my interior. We opted for the smoke white extended merino leather. I want to protect it but there are so many differing opinons out there.

It seems the front runners are Gyeon Q2, Colourlock, Adams and Leathermasters. Has anyone here with smoke white tried these? Can you share your experience? I plan to apply it myself.

Thanks
Jim

Hi, on my last 7series I had the Ivory white and ordered a colourlock set before the car arrived. But to be honest I didn't HAVE to use it a single time because the leather is way more durable and much less susceptible to staining than I thought.

I voluntarily used the colourlock once a year in spring and I am happy what it can do and would also recommend it to anybody, but it's not really necessary to apply it like every two weeks

Got the smoke white interior now as well, but only since a couple of weeks ago, so no real experience here, but I'd be surprised if these seats get really dirty cause of trousers or whatever, even though I have to confess I never wear jeans.

Summarized I am sure that the fear of unsightly stains is unfounded, but I would also order the Colourlock set again, just to have anything at hand if needed.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Would still love to hear others thoughts before I pull the trigger.

I used to have silverstone in my last M5 which I had for about 2 years and never had any issue with stains. I now have a smoke white interior on my G70 for about 3 months and still no stains or scuffs of any sort.

Berliner and av0789,
Thank you both for your insights and experience with these lighter color interiors. Your experiences are quite reassuring. Our car is in Galveston finally and we should have it sometime in the next week to 10 days I imagine.

I will probably do Colourlock as Berliner recommended. Thanks guys.

Thank you all for the useful feedback. I was going to post the same question !

Any particular product in the colourlock lineup ? I looked at the site and I am frankly lost with all the products they have.

I would just use their strong and mild leather cleaners, and then get some of these autofiber scrub ninja pads for cleaning:

https://www.carsupplieswarehouse.com...rubbing-sponge

Get this new leather kit with the Leather Shield, this is what you need:

https://www.colourlock.com/Care-Kit-...ew-leather-us/

You will still get dye transfer and all on the seats, but it will clean right off with the mild leather cleaner and the scrub ninja pad

I use Gyeon products and, although not fully necessary, I apply Leather Shield once a year on my interior after a thorough cleaning with a high alkaline cleaner.

The leather on this vehicle has a thick outer layer of plastic coating the actual leather surface, so while the ceramic coating isn’t necessary, it surely helps with the removal of dye transfer from my jeans.

Coincidentally, I just did a 20 hour paint correction detail on the exterior of my vehicle this past weekend with a Gyeon Evo Synchro (MOHS + Skin) exterior coating.

My vehicle is 1.5 years old, and this is what the interior looks like.

You’ll be fine with either the ColourLock or Gyeon brand products.

Not overthinking it at all, any light interior requires care and protection from stains
