Is it just me, or do movies get worse and worse all the time? In the old days, the plot was important, not how lipstick was applied, and people had to sit down and concentrate beyond the next explosion.

Haha I remember leaving a VHS tape in the car and it melted. I had to pay back the video store and the really annoying thing is that I worked there and my boss didn't even give me a break! Haha!

Since late 80s, our family got ripped off by Blockbuster (by looking at current rate now). I mean 3.99+tax for a 1 night VHS rental in 80s? Inflation adjusted, it is more like $8.00+tax.

So, when i was unemployed for few mo during 06, I registered for netflix type of blockbuster. I can watch the movie, and just return it to the store to clear the queue. Watched a lot of new releases movies for 9.99/mo.

Movies blow now because the people making them have no reverence for the past or the genius in making a movie that is thought provoking. Today people want to be mindless drones. I understand that movies are supposed to have you lost in suspension of disbelief, but when people say a movie about bio-engineered killer dinosaurs running around a theme park (same in part 1,2,3) is the best movie of the year...well it just makes me weep for the future.

This may be a cultural thing, so I'll take a few minutes and try to explain to you why you are wrong in this case.

At some point, you have to understand where no means no. This has to be a universal concept and not one that's limited to the USA.

You may have the friendliest of intentions and feel like you're doing someone a favor, but if you offer someone a cookie and they say no thanks, but you try to shove the fucking cookie in their mouth, you're wrong.
