7 Series Midcycle facelift (LCI) coming soon?
By all accounts, the F01/F02 7 Series has been a success for the company in terms of sales. 2012 will mark mid cycle of the lineup and according to BMW insider Scott26 the top of the line car will get a few slight changes to bring it into line with the rest of the range. The updated car would be termed an LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) model.

It's not really that surprising... The F01/F02 was introduced at the end of 2008 beginning of 2009, so the 2012 face-lift is in-line with all the other models getting a face-lift within the 3 to 4 year cycle!

For how many years total does everyone believe the F01/02 will run - 6, 7, or 8?
Do you believe that the NAS facelift will come for MY 2012 or for MY 2013? And, any word on when SOP for NAS MY 2012's will be? Last, who is Scott26??? |

The previous model E65 has been exactly 7 years from september 2001 untill september 2008. This model was restyled in april 2005. If we copy this carreer to the current model, then this means that the restyling will be in april (autumn) 2012 and the end of his carreer will be in september (fall) 2015.

Do we know what he does for BMW or whether he works out of NA or AG? Guess he does his best to remain covert?
Where / what forums can he generally be found on? And, anyway, I hope to G-d that the facelift isn't as extensive (read: impressive) - visually - as the one for the E65/66, becuase I'll then be pissed! Last edited by dbs600; 07-12-2010 at 12:10 AM. |

I suspect the facelift will be for model year 2013, the 5th year of the F01, as the E32, E38, and E65 were all also facelifted in their 5th years. The question then becomes, when will 2013 model year vehicles hit US shores, as BMW stepped things up big time with 2011 model year vehicles as early as second quarter 2010!
