Hi all, trying to help my son out with his F01 750i (2015). Today's issue is that after replacing the air compressor for the rear suspension, it won't turn on. We put in a fresh 40A fuse (#182), replaced the relay, and disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes to try to reset it. The rear wheels are currently on ramps and the air struts are empty/compressed. The compressor came with a new solenoid as well.

Anything else we can try? Would really love to fix this ourselves rather than having to put the bumper/taillights/etc back together, tow it to a shop, and pay them to take it apart again. Any help is much appreciated!

Other background:
Initial problem was 2 blown air lines (they got too hot, long story), he replaced those and the old compressor worked ok at first, got the car back to level, didn't have to do anything weird to reset it. But shortly after that, the fuse blew and we tried just replacing the fuse and the relay, but that didn't work and the compressor didn't run. So we thought the compressor burnt out. Got the new one installed and it won't turn on. What are we missing?

Hoping to catch the attention of some experienced BMW programmers with this thread. 2011 BMW F02 740Li. During a routine i step update with ISTA+, my voltage maintainer took a dump and I ended corrupting several modules including ICM-V, and JBBF. I was able to repair all of the modules except for the JBBF module, which appeared to have an "unknown" file that really confused esys and ISTA... it was stuck in between I steps apparently or simply corrupted, had BLTD but no CAFD and minimal firmware. So I resolved to harvest a good known JBBF module from a donor vehicle, and it was nearly plug and play, all functioned resumed, however, to be thorough I flashed it through ISTA to update firmware and VO and match it to my vehicle. Big mistake. During programming (using ICOM next clone) my ICOM rebooted, interrupted programming and bricked the ZGW. Ordered and installed donor ZGW same part no, but from a F01 x drive. Im now able to connect to vehicle and engine starts, most everything functions, but still have error codes for non VIN coded JBBF and ZGW modules. AC signal is missing as well which I attribute to the ZGW variant. I have attempted to flash in esys, but during flash, getting a ETHERNET JBBF_00 not found error. I understand that ISTA+ may be more advantageous thatn eSys for coding and upgrading the donor modules, however, im hestitant to reattempt with my ICOM given the past experience. And having no luck connecting with ISTA+ through ENET, even though my laptop pings the car well on a 192.254 domain, so connection is good, ISTA+ is just rejecting my ENET connection for some reason. Its my humble understanding that I may need to modify my FA in order for eSys to TAL Calc and code. When I "detect for SWE" I am only getting yr 2015 i steps, whereas the rest of the vehicle was upgraded to Nov 2024 I step (520). I was hoping someone with some experience might be able to guide me through the steps I need to take to code the JBBF and ZGW to my VIN, and get the AC signal back. Thanks for taking a moment.

Hello all,

Picked up a 7 series for a great price in June of 2025, and this will be the first 7 series we have owned. It also has the M-sport package on it. As with any car you get at a great price, there are a few issues to sort out. Bit of a back story, this car was purchased by the PO back in 2018 (nearly $22,000 per the title) with 82,000 miles on it. Based on some included dealer records, it had the following parts changed:

- Starter
- Both front axles on separate visits
- Upper oil pan due to damage from the axle
- Oil pump chain (during above repair)
- Fuel tank, sending unit, and pressure regulator
- Various PCV related pipes
- Couple of coils and plugs
- Oil changes

He was selling the car due to needing timing chains and being in limp mode, so I went expecting to hear all kinds of rattling and/or a possible no start situation. However, it started up fairly easily (with a jumper) and outside of some initial rattle while the oil pressure built, it ran great and was able to drive it onto the trailer!

After talking with the PO a bit more, he bought it as somewhat of a project to play around with and quickly lost interest. I feel that this car may have been sitting for several years and may currently only have about 88k on it. Due to the poor state of the battery and the electronics freaking out, I was unable to check the odometer. Battery was so bad that it could only muster 5.81 volts after about 18 hours of trickle charge. I am picking up a new one today so I can clear the 8 million codes that are in there and see what comes back.

Here is a summary bringing this to the present:

- Looked into the CCP and called dealers/BMW NA = Dead End
- Got a laptop, updated it, and installed ISTA+
- Used that for diag, which led to a cam adjuster (Bank 1 EXH)
- Ordered 4 adjusters (A-Premium) and took everything apart
- Bank 1 EXH cam had slipped approximately 5-10 degrees (may not have needed adjuster but went ahead and installed both on that bank but kept the originals)

Replaced the top guide while I was in there
All other guides scoped out ok, no missing plastic
Put it all back together, cylinder 1 misfire

Found injector 1 to be broken at the connector (pulling away from the injector body) and evidence of a prior repair attemp
Replaced and coded a new injector

Once that was done and it ran good, proceeded with other maintenance (Trans, diffs, transfer case, 4 new tires, alignment, oil change, PS fluid change, spark plugs, coils, drive belt)

April 2026 update. Approaching the 10k mile mark since resolving the timing issue. Only other thing that happened was water pump replacement in the dead of winter (leak started due to failure of the bearing) and I also had some issues with the trans cooler bypass neck (plastic bit on the front of the cooler) leaking coolant. Due to its location and potential for coolant/trans fluid mixing, I may relocate this to the front at some point. I already have a standalone cooler that would work.

Other than that, it has been great. Really good power when you need it and comfortable to drive. Up next on the list:

- Clearcoat repair on the aftermarket spoiler
- Removing the M badge that the PO put on
- New intake system
- Downpipes
- Various exhaust wrap, sheilding, possibly turbo blankets
- Window tint replacement (poorly done)
- Seat thigh adjuster repair (both sides)

Now basically it’s stuck sitting. Everytime I try try and start the car I get one solid click and nothing else rly happens. My headlights sort of dim but nothing else. I tested my battery and it’s fine, it won’t jump, I had it sit on a battery charger and see if that would jump it but still nothing. I think my engine is locked but does anyone know what I can do to fix this or am I just sol.
