Hooookay guys, let’s go easy on the self righteousness a bit, yeah? We all love our kids, including the OP. He’s just looking for some advice on how to be a dad while keeping his cars in pristine condition.
I was semi-joking/drunk posting on the “delegating to the 14yo” bit, but it was also kind of serious. Educate your kids on how to help you take care of your prized possessions, make them understand that this is something that dad really cares about, and trust them to do the best they can.
My dad was not a big car guy, but he really did love his hi-fi equipment and his vinyl collection. So we all tried our best to respect that because we loved him. My siblings were more successful than me - i was the fuckup who accidentally dropped and shattered his turntable cover...good times.
