Merc didn't even have the highest top speed last season, Mercedes always have the high down force low top speed approach. Look at the w11 - fastest F1 car ever it was all about the down force on that car, and it always had a really low trap speed vs. the rest. |
This. Not including last season, Mercedes never really had or was known for their top-end speed, it was more about their chassis. During HAM dominance, his car was the most balanced, whether that was by design or was catered to HAM.
