Probably easier to show this from a yearly sales point of view. The S-Class is more so an exception than the rule to its class, as it outsells its closest competitors (most of the time combined). However, even still the GLS has been outselling the S since its first full model year on sale (2007), and the X7 looks to be doing the same for BMW. The only times in which the S was down was for its class was 2020 because the W222 was put out of production early, and the W223 was released late in the second half of 2021.
