My usage of the car is 90% of very short distances, maybe 5-10km (4-8 miles). This type of usage really eats up the 12V, the main hybrid battery is doing extremely well and I'm getting almost the MPG what BMW claims 
I mean 100+ MPG just because I can charge the main hybrid battery often. But the 12V isnt keeping up...
So ... Can one trickle charge (Ctek etc) the 12V at the engine bay? |
I don't have a hybrid, and would have thought that charging a hybrid's propulsion battery would also charge the ICE 12v but seems like I'm wrong.
In any event, the CTEK charger works just fine on a '20 750ix. I have a mix of short and occasional long (85 mi) trips and charge about every 2 months. My understanding is it is easier to maintain battery health if you lock the car when you leave it.
