I had a similar sound, seems the lower control arms and wishbone were replaced and fixed my issue.
Regarding that quote, that's typical of the stealership. They like to use book time vs actual. I remember paying $600 for a $50 part.
I just installed a full brake package kit. They quoted me $1900 just for labor. I had an Indy shop do it for $475. Major different.
Defiantly go to an Indy shop. That's an easy job.
