False.
There has been a 730i/Li before (pre-LCI E65), and it made only 230HP. Even the LCI E65 730i made only 255HP. There was even a pre-LCI E65 735i with a 0-60 of greater than 8 seconds.
The B48 in the new G11 730i will make at least 260HP, if not 270HP. I can't imagine the G11 will be heavier than the E65, but even if so, it has a far torquier engine with a solid 30+ HP advantage to stay ahead.
Lastly, those driving a 7 series care more about the quality of the leather and legroom over the 0-60. It could be a solid 1 second slower in the 0-60 and I doubt that would hurt sales at all for that market segment. |
Of course, I said "of its time", meaning among what will be the current model lineup, not "of all time".
But the history lesson is appreciated.
