My Apple Car Play is a factory option, so have not messed around with coding or anything else, and it worked flawlessly until Apple released iOS 13. I had some serious issues at that point where neither ACP or Bluetooth connectivity were reliable, and gave me all sorts of issues. At some point, ACP was not even visible!

Had numerous conversations with the BMW Genius at my dealer, including deleting and re-pairing, without success.

I am now running 13.2, have deleted the phone, hard reset the phone, re-paired with the car and all is now working, however I had to reset all the permissions in the connected app on the phone to get the contacts to sync. So, I think my issues stemmed from the update from iOS 12 to iOS 13.
