It’s not just the Chinese, it’s the Americans too. And the Middle East. People just like having “others” to blame for something they don’t like so they can deride the “others” as tacky and tasteless. I’m not going to call outright racism, but it doesn’t hurt that the “others” are usually the Chinese in this situation.
Let’s be honest, if you spend $130K+ on a car, you want it to look like you did. Some exceptions here and there, sure; but generally speaking people don’t want their car looking like it costs less than it does. You think the big Rolls Royce and Bentley grills are on accident?
