How about adding a step when a post has been erased - send a PM to the person telling him why the post was deleted. I'm not sure this is feasible, since I have no idea how many are actully deleted.

For example I've had a few exchanges with a certain member, on a few diff threads. Nothing violent, no naughty words, just some banter back and forth. On one post I asked him "do you ever have anything positive to say about anything...". His response was "you're a nice guy Mike". My response back to him was "ok, that actually made me laugh, thx". These few post exchanges between us were deleted. The thread is still active today, just without us. In this type of situation, a simple PM telling me why I was deleted would be great. Is this possible, or is there just too many members to allow this to happen?
