Never understood the slammed look on nicer cars....it NEVER looks good. Makes me think the suspension went out and the owner can't afford to fix it (like the 2000's Mercedes models with the air suspension).
This isn't 1990 when cars had 6 inches in between little tires and the wheel well. Most cars (especially BMW) are lowered to a good height. Lowering a 1/2 inch to one inch (since M cars are a little lower already than non-M models) can make it look good in many circumstances....but more than that looks crazy. Just my $0.02.
