We have had 2 issues with the newer BMWs, and unfortunately they both resemble police laser. There are a few tricks you can do to avoid turning off the laser detection.
If the laser warning is showing mainly to the rear, arrow down, it is probably due to the gesture control. Most of our customers either find where the laser is emitting from the gesture control in their vehicle and block it using light blocking tape such as electrical tape, or if they do not want to lose that feature, block the rear laser sensor on the V1. The rear laser sensor on the V1 is to the right of the seven segment display, to the left of the band ID letters. You can see a circle underneath the label where the rear sensor is located. I would say the majority of the people I have talked to block that little circle with electrical tape. You would still have forward laser warning in that scenario.
If the laser warning is mainly to the front, arrow up, it could be your navigational screen. A quick check for that would be to completely block your navigational screen with a heavy coat or something similar. If this appears to be the problem, you can try moving your V1. Some customers who choose not to move their V1 create a small visor on the bottom of the V1 to block the light coming up into the sensors from underneath. Many have had success just taping a business card on the bottom of their unit coming out an inch or two at the windshield end of their unit, in essence creating a small "visor".
One or both of these fixes should alleviate your laser falsing.

The V1 is outdated and outperformed by the Uniden R3 and above anyway.
