I'm not terribly put off by that idea.
It's the 7. The flagship. The big dog. It needs to strike fear in to the hearts of people poorer than you. It should look imperious, dismissive, with a hint of aggressive scorn. The Phantom does that better than anything else, and BMW is lucky to have them in their pockets from which to draw inspiration.
