I think it’s a few points that combine to be honest; the extra weight of those 14 cm’s of metal, the extra weight of the xdrive (think the 40d only comes in xdrive?), the 30d being a real sweet spot engine in all BMW models so good tuning of that engine...
I do believe the 40d is twin turbo though no? If so, you’d miss that with doing any remap/chip with the 30d (and nothing else). I’m out of my warranty period now so seriously considering what I’ll do next...if prices of cars don’t go crazy in 2020 I’ll likely look to change the car, if the prices do go nuts then I’ll chip, put new alloys on, etc...
