If we look at the power/weight ratio the 730d sdrive is 145hp/tonne the 740d xdrive is 165hp/tonne (figures for the G11 SWB models) so that's not a huge difference, I found once over 70mph the 740d has more legs, feels meatier but up to that point the 730d felt sharper even if on paper the 740d is the quicker car.
In terms of tuning the twin turbo B57 in the 740d can be tuned for 380-400hp and that would make a difference pushing the ratio up to 200hp per tonne. |
What are the comparison figures if you use a 730D with Xdrive?
