I visit the two BMW dealers in Auckland once each about every 6 weeks to poke around new cars. Everyone at both dealers know me fairly well and often want to chat just to see what I think and have a good chat. They've let me drive just about everything in the range whenever I ask.
However I am in Melbourne, Australia at the moment and spent around 30 minutes in the main BMW dealership here without a single person talking to me. They weren't too impressed when I started playing with things in the 650i GC they had there and I think they were close to asking me to leave. Disclaimer - I look like I'm late 20s and as it was 30C/86F I was wearing tshirt and shorts - they really looked like they were not happy with me even being there.
