I’d be weary of going on the kerb - when I was on it in 2018 the guy right behind me had a new Ford Edge and mounted the kerb accidentally, catching his tire on a lifted edge on one of the metal plates on the surface, destroying his tire in the process. I felt really bad for the guy, but I was also very relieved that he was right behind me and not the other way around - I’m sure he was fine though because there was a recovery car right outside as I drove out of the carriage.
