I will say for a fact though our TJ wrangler has cost us more in maintenance and repairs than my E85 and they're only 2 years apart and have all the receipts and heartburn to prove it
I went from a Miata to a Z3 M Coupe. Kept it 14 years, it was a great car. But it was heavier, more powerful and more expensive. Miatas are great for their simplicity and how cheap it is to run/track them. It's just a very different tool, both have their place, but for a toy, I'd take cheap and simple every time. Of course I'm actively shopping Caterhams, so I'm not the brightest bulb.

Oh, and I'd take a Miata over any current BMW, but I'm still suffering from just how awful our F30 was.
