Correction -- I didn't have an e38 rebuilt, it was an e65 (2006 745i) with a 4.0L V8. I had an e38, but sold it after realizing too much work was needed. Wow, your price is pretty awesome. I wished I lived near you... I'd give you lots of business.. lol. As far as the work I had done, I had the valve stem seals replaced -- a common problem, as you know. That took about a week and $4000. Weeks later I had coolant leaking and took it back in, thinking it was an error on their part. Turns out it was a common problem that they didn't address during the rebuild. The cooling circulation pipe located in the top valley of the motor started to leak. They have me a break on the cost and charged me $1000. They had a special tool that saved them from tearing apart the engine again. Which I was ok with, but wished they had addressed it on the rebuild. Remember, this is California. $5000 was the absolute cheapest I could find. Most other places wanted $6000-$8000 for the job. The dealer wanted $10K+!
