Despite BMW's recent statement that no M7 is planned, could they simply be denying until they're ready to confirm? Until now there have only been rumors and hearsay regarding any potential plans for an M7, but could these photos be the first physical evidence of a potential M7?

Two intriguing BMW 7 Series prototypes were very recently spied in testing. Although they appear to be regular G11/G12 7 Series without most of the telltale M bits (M style bodywork, M steering wheel, exposed quad exhaust tips), they were fitted with 19" BBS wheels - the same ones we have been seeing on the next generation F90 M5 test mules. Even more interesting is what's seen behind the wheels - cross-drilled rotors and large M brake calipers. No BMW 7 Series, BMW Individual model, nor the recently revealed M760i feature cross drilled rotors, and such large brakes and cross-drilled rotors have traditionally only been equipped on full M models.

To add fuel to the fire, the two 7 Series prototypes were being tested alongside two BMW X6 M and one F10 M5 Competition (seen in photos), which indicates that BMW has high performance aspirations for whatever this model may be (and we hope it's an M7).

What would a hypothetical M7 be powered by? Most likely an uprated version of the current M5's 4.4L twin turbo V8 S63Tu engine with 600+ HP. And if this is no M7, what could BMW be testing?
