I did test against a demo car the dealer had. Same spec as mine: 740d, no acoustic glass. Wind noise is esoteric… to me the demo was much quieter, the dealer disagreed…
Suffices to say, they did not rectify the problem. And now I'm left to my own devices… first thing I'll do, will be to purchase some second-hand acoustic glass for side windows. Should be much easier to replace than the front screen (this I don't want to touch, unless it's absolutely necessary)
Plan B is to give the car to some expert garage that deals with sound deadening in cars. Having done a few calls I gather BMWs are a frequent sight in those places and enjoy poor reputation among the sound experts (one said straight away: worst German make in terms of soundproofing; MB being much better apparently)
