Also, the title of COTM is a mere illusion, a feature. The owners likely initially designed it to showcase the community and the advancements of the related platform (e90/e92/M3) to attract more member registrations. This feature was made more and more fleshed out and presumably some members are now actually taking this illusory title seriously.
As a feature, therefore, COTM is not an actual "title." Everyone in this thread now knows COTM is purely the subjective tastes of the owners. There is no objective standard here. At best a COTM hopeful can attempt to mod a vehicle based on the owners' subjective tastes but that would be pretty pathetic.
If OP didn't "win"--or better put: if the OP's vehicle was not chosen to be featured for a particular month, the owners simply liked another car better.
