Things are really moving along now!
- Car was assigned to a Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel 'Aniara' on Friday 26 February (just two days after leaving the factory)Fun facts about the 'Aniara': - Roll-On / Roll-Off vehicle / cargo vessel - Operating under the Swedish flag - Built in 2008 - Has five hoistable decks for cargo - Can carry a whopping 7600 cars per voyage! - Average time required for Westerly Atlantic / Gulf / Panama Canal-to-Pacific crossing: 24 days I've included some images below showing some of the above timeline. The first image is a little grainy, because I captured it from a webcam pointed right at the Aniara at the Bremerhaven port. Unfortunately, it was right around sunset, so the sun wreaked havoc on the camera. I captured this pic the same day my car was loaded, so it's unlikely my car is one of the ones you can see on the rail-cars in the foreground. The second image, of course, is confirmation from BMWUSA that the car is on its way. The third picture shows 'Aniara' moored at Zeebrugge, Belgium -- it's first stop. The fourth picture shows the planned route 'Aniara' will take to her third stop -- Southampton, England, before starting her Atlantic crossing.

Another quick update for everyone:
- The 'Aniara' made it to the East Coast of the United States, and traveled up the Chesapeake Bay, passing under Highway 13, crossing the border between the states of Virginia and Maryland, then passing under Highway 50 and Interstate 695 overpasses last night. It is currently moored at Dundalk where it's offloading some of the cars and industrial vehicles, and will be taking on others. The anticipation is really building for me.

The 'Aniara' is now making its way through the Caribbean Sea, and is about to travel between the Southeastern tip of Cuba and the West coast of Haiti as it continues on course for Panama.

Another quick update...
'Aniara' passed through the Panama Canal earlier today, and is now in the Pacific Ocean. I grabbed a screenshot from the Panama Canal webcam just as she passed through the Miraflores locks on the southern side of the Canal. Next stop: Port Hueneme, California.

Been a week since my last update, and the 'Aniara' has made a great deal of progress up the West Coast of Central America and Mexico (having passed through the Panama Canal one week ago today).
She's about to enter US waters, passing San Diego, then closing in on Los Angeles! Ship will dock at Port Hueneme (between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara) at Noon tomorrow (Sat 26 March). Car will be driven off the ship, then will go through Customs and pre-delivery checks before being loaded on a truck for the long drive up to San Francisco. It should be at my dealership within the next week or so! The process of following the car from factory to ship, etc. has been a blast! I'll give this thread a bump when I've taken delivery of the car and have photos to share.

"Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package <-- this option deletes functionality from front passenger seat (massage, shoulder adjustments, etc.)"
Where do you get that info? The rear executive lounge seating package includes the Executive Package which is what adds that to the front.

You are correct, in that the Executive Package is added when a customer also selects the Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package (they call it "captain's chair"). However, the Executive Package seating options are only applied to the Driver's seat. Not the Passenger seat. Page 48 of the Interior Equipment manual lists the limitations of the front passenger seat when the car is equipped with the Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package (captain's chair). I've included that page here. The front passenger seat loses the following:
Not such a fun place to be if you know the other three passengers are receiving massage, and are able to adjust their seats to a more comfortable position (beyond the standard up / down / fore / aft / tilt capability). They had to ditch all of the items I bulleted above to make room for the mechanism that folds the footrest downward, and the headrest and backrest forward.

Good info! I'd be really upset if the main passenger in the front seat lost those abilities just so the occasional rear seat passenger could be pampered. Then again, if you are being chauffeured by a paid driver, you wouldn't care about the front seat passenger, LOL!

Congrats on the new 7!
My build sheet says that M package includes sport steering wheel and sport automatic transmission. Can you please shed the light on these two features. It is called M package 337 on the build. Everywhere I look it says that M pack is only about aesthetics. At the same time build sheet talks about M exhaust which I suppose is louder than stock (?) and other items mentioned earlier that affect driving experience. |

The Sport Automatic Transmission is standard on all US-delivered G12s (both 740i and 750i). That transmission (option 2TB) brings with it two shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel, and is equipped with Launch Control. Additionally, this transmission offers a new "sport shift map" which offers the driver a further configuration option between "D" (Drive) and "S" (Sport) drive positions. With this option, upshifts take place later and downshifts earlier than in "D" (Drive) mode, however, the shift points are not at the same level as for pure "S" Sport mode. Again, this is standard on all US cars.

Great, thank you for clarifying this for me.
I hope you would not mind me asking about Autobahn. Is there tangible difference in driving between Autobahn equipped car and without it ? Another question that I could not find the answer for. |

It's Here!
Took delivery of my G12 750i xDrive today! It was actually delivered last week, but I asked the dealer to bring a tint shop in to tint my windows, and that took nearly a week (labor, curing time, etc.). Stopped during my drive home from the dealership to take a few photos. I think it looks great!
Since he's black and white on the outside, I've named him 'Finn' <-- after the stormtrooper come hero in the new Star Wars film

That's one beautiful car! Congrats.
I wanted a white M Sport, which was at the dealer awaiting recall, but the wife loves blue so we're replacing our Imperial Blue 335i with an Imperial Blue 750i Xdrive. |

Cool! I LOVE Imperial Blue Metallic! That's the color I chose for my last 7 which I picked up using European Delivery in 2011. It was sad to see them driving the old guy away yesterday, but the minute I laid eyes on my new Mineral White Metallic G12, the sadness went away.
