Why does BMW offer so many different SUVs? And why four door coupes?
Why does BMW have SUVs in so many different shapes in sizes?
Also what happened to even numbers being coupes and odds being sedan? We don't need a 2 series 4 door gran coupe. |

I am afraid that buyers taste has changed. More SUVs are sold by BMW than cars. The X3 has replaced the 3 series as the brands best seller. So X cars are needed for the survival of BMW.
I agree with you that the gran coupe idea is silly. I don’t know if it makes financial sense either. Sales of gran coupes are extremely small. |

Why so much hate? BMW has enough cars for everyone, just pick the right one and enjoy. And who cares if it's called M3 or M4 or F80 or F82...? |

the whole GC naming convention after spliting 2/4 doors is silly. Almost as bad as the AMG GT "4 door," which currently takes my most ridiculous car name award right now.

4 door gran coupe is definitely needed for those who want one.
I can't say I'll ever want one of those, but after seeing the trunk space in that monster I can see the need. It has impressive trunk space with the rear seats folded down. If you are arguing it should be a 3 series gran coupe, I'm not sure that matters. Not in my world at least... call it whatever. Lady I saw shopping it, I'm sure she does not care about the name. |

The three/five door models were always available in Europe, just not in NA.

The 3 used to come in a coupe OR a sedan... some of you guys aren’t remembering this stuff correctly. There wasn’t a 4 in those days. Or a six. Or eight. Or one, or two. Lol.

Correct...but it was one plant back in the days (before E92 and E93) for the 3 Series. Now the 3 and 4 Series are splitted up between Munich, Regensburg and Dingolfing. The 4 Series is it's own Series, not just a 3 Series coupe.

??? yeah, I know. I guess there’s a point in there somewhere. Mine was responding to “what happened to even numbers being coupes and odds being sedan” and pointing out that before all the other numbers the three was either a coupe or sedan.

The number changes made it more simple to search for used cars and helps with values.
A 3 series coupe is more of a sports car than a 3 series sedan. Different buyers with much different comparable models. Much different auction and trade in values. |

I just want the model numbering to be consistent with what the announced. Placing the moniker 'coupe' on a 4 door car contradicts the definition of 'coupe'.
