i5 m60 or i7 m60

Ignoring price, which would you prefer to have if the cost of the car didn’t matter and why? I fell like they did a much better job at making the i5 sporty and the i7 more luxurious but they both don’t seem to crossover. What do you guys think? Which is the winner and why?

I have a 23 740i and while it was in service they gave me the i5 M60 as a loaner for a week. It’s was extremely fun extremely fast, all thoe I’ve never drive the M70 I still would rather choose the 7 for the look, comfort, and a lot more room inside. Plus, you get more tech in the 7.

It’s preference but if money isn’t an issue that imo the 7 wins hands down. Bigger, more comfortable and higher tech wins.

There really isn’t any downsides. The more nimbleness of the 5 won’t even be noticeable with average or even slightly aggressive driving.

Although the 5 is the exact same size as the 2012 750i I still feel it’s pretty tight inside compared to a new 7. With rear wheel steering the 7 handles pretty nimble for a 212 inch car. I find the 5 is a little vanilla this go around or they’ve watered it down with the angled back. Looks like a hatchback. Plus the 7 is rarer and looks like no other car out there. Bold and in your face. Stand out and get a 7 and you’ll be blown away by the finishes and luxury. Pound for pound one of the best luxury cars available. IMHO.

Agree with this and I have had numerous 5's. You just don't see very many 7's on the road. The 4 wheel steering on the 7, to me, makes it handle like a 5 in tight spaces (and otherwise) but the ride is overall much better in the 7. But I'm an old fart. See if you can drive each size (even if not the exact model you're after) and decide for yourself.

BMW i5 M60 or i7 xDrive60?

The models are i5/M60, i7 xDrive60 and i7 M70 (I think you had a typo).

I have both the i5 M60 (delivered only Friday) and the i7 xDrive 60.

The i7 is a "heavy" Luxury sedan, with Emirates-First Class style comfort. Definitely a car to be driven in whilst you lounge away in the rear.

The i5 M60 is a driver's car. Super fast - fastest 5-series ever!

Has a lot of i7 goodies, but not the Diamond Surround, the 27 speakers and naturally, not the Theatre Screen or automatic doors.

But if you need a "runs car" that feels like a mini-i7, this is your ride!

If the i7 looked like a larger version of the i5 they would struggle to keep up with demand.

The i7 does grow on you if you spec the black grille.

It also seem very colour dependant, looks better in a darker colour IMHO, though there is a two tone one in London which looked nice

I briefly considered an i5 before I purchased my i7. The prices are considerable on both but I stuck to my guns with the i7 simply because I knew it'd be a larger, more comfortably luxurious and ultimately safer vehicle. Other than the automatic doors, the technology is basically the same. You'd automatically have to assume the i5 would be more spritely but since I'm not going to race anybody or care about canyon carving, the stately i7 was easily the better choice, head over shoulders.
