Gesture control - steering wheel control Apple car play

Spotify works when I get in my car with gesture control and the controls on the steering wheel on Spotify through CarPlay.

If I get out of the car for a quick errand and come back the CarPlay works and Spotify works but can’t use gesture or steering wheel controls to change tracks any longer. Have to press the touch screen buttons.

I tried to reset the I drive by holding down power and upon restart it worked fine while driving. So what’s the deal- is this a bug? Is there a way to fix this without having to hardboot?

Probably a bug. Perhaps there is an easier way to solve it, like switching from Spotify to another music app and back. Or do a reconnect of your mobile device.
