Any owner reviews on the ESS tune?

I am debating between that and Burger. Seems like there are a lot of happy Burger customers, but have not seen much review on the ESS.

I am concerned about the car looking stock or easy to put back to looking stock when I bring my car in for my 1200 mile service.

Thanks.

I'm very happy with ESS tune. Quality product. Had the BMS on my F10 M5, was fine too. Build quality and number of sensor connections on ESS (11 IIRC) is pretty impressive. Return to stock file with simple plugin "kill switch". Very consistent 50whp gains.

Should be pretty easy to install and uninstall. Maybe you should read their / Burger's install instructions.

I would wait until after the break in service to tune it. At least to make sure there are no initial issues.

You can still get it and place it on map 0 then after the 1200 mileage change the map. Not hard at all

Any idea about the maximum hp and torque each makes under their strongest maps on a stock car or a car with DP? I am also curious about the linear map that ESS has. Does Burger also offer a "linear" map with reduced torque under a certain rpm?

And is it true that Burger allows iPhone or iPad to change maps?

X2, Id wait until after break-in service. There are software updates from BMW already and they may want to do those at your break-in service.

Agreed, wait until after break-in service to install. Shouldn't be romping the car before then anyway.

I sent this to another member via PM recently when asked a similar question:

First off, let me say that I love ESS as a company. Roman and AJ give excellent customer service and always deliver a very solid product. I had their tune on my E46 and on my E92. The main difference in the tunes is the ability to log data, switch maps on the fly, fine tune certain parameters, and be as aggressive (or least aggressive) as possible.

The ESS unit is great, but it just didnt offer enough for me to want to swtich to them from my very happy standing with BMS. It also helps that Terry is close to me, also gives good support, and he is honest and safe with his tunes (not saying ESS isn't, just clarifying for those that think T is just trying to squeeze the maximum amount out).

Conclusion: You can't go wrong either way, but I am loving the BMS. @carholic
