I was surprised he didn't left foot brake on a few of those corners where downshifting wasn't required.... Being a Karter, that is the norm.

If you watch foot work of some professionals, they will keep their foot on the gas while approaching a corner and then pump the brake with the left foot as well. What function does this provide? |

Love the Senna vid. Pobst was tolerable in that vid but he still tries too hard. Neither of them was double-clutching; maybe that makes me a throwback...

Senna is double clutching on the first shift in the video. But that's on an upshift! (the gearbox doesn't agree with him )
But that nsx is a real slow car btw (japanese version)

Senna's PRINCIPLES OF RACE CAR DRIVING book never mention double clutching, however, Alain Prost's driving book does mention double clutch on the downshift / lift up clutch while in neutral and sliding into lower gear then depress clutch blip the throttle and complete the change - Prost says lifting the clutch in neutral slows down the spinning plates. Prost may also be eluding to crash boxes transmissions which on the upshift you can pretty much shift floored without any clutch, though on the downshift you really need to double clutch to slow down the transmission side while blipping the engine side.
