My BMW 740d with AC Schnitzer lowering and 20" wheels styling 238
3 Months ago i picked up my new F01 740d.
Since a few weeks my dealer installed lowering springs of AC Schnitzer (-25mm) and 20" wheels styling 238. I was thinking about taking 21" wheels styling 312, but i decided not to take them because of too little rubber and to delicate for curb damage. Here is a pic of my car in wintersetup before lowering: These is my car in summersetup after lowering: Last edited by BMWMB; 04-21-2010 at 02:11 AM.. |

it is possible to drop the front lower,
but you got to use different Brand of Springs. H&R sport springs front drop is 1.6inches, and another more extreme version of H&R which is super sport springs even drop much more to 2 inches. G Power springs front drop is 30mm Hartge Springs front drop is 30mm Hamman springs front drop is 40mm only Eibach Pro Kit is the same as ACS at 1 inch/25mm front drop |

Thanks for your reply.
I am now accustomed to the look with this drop and i'm satisfied. Maybe after wintertime i'm going to change my 20" rims for 21" styling 312, the silver ones. |

How is the Ride comfort compare to standard springs ? How is the Handling and Balance of the car compare to standard springs ? Does the lower ride clearance give any problem for you to go on a ramp/speed bump ? (any scrape) Thanks |

is there any spring out there that wont drop more than 1"? I dont want to sacrifice to much comfort and still want to be able to go through humps, car parks comfortably. Also is all that required springs and just for the fronts or also shocks?

Alpina B7 drops is only 0.6in front and 0.4in rear, but I don't think Alpina sells their springs for regular BMW owner. this copy and paste is from Alpina B7 review : http://www.insideline.com/bmw/alpina...rst-drive.html The suspension's coil springs have different rates than the stock 7 Series and the ride height is 0.6 inch lower in front and 0.4 inch in the rear. so far I had NOT find any tuner/suspension company that sells (shocks and springs) kits for the new 7 Series. so I think there are no shocks available for new 7 series yet... if anybody have any info regarding aftermarket performance shocks for the new 7 series please post here. Oh by the way, the only company that I knew change the damping value of the shocks is Alpina for their Alpina B7. Hamman, Hartge, ACS, RDsport, do not have any replacement shocks only springs... Although I am sure if you have no limit with your budget, you can always custom install Moton or Ohlin (or other exotic racing shocks) and used it for 7 Series... your car is LWB, and usually LWB had rear self leveling suspension,... right ? http://www.hamann-motorsport.com/en/...02/suspension/ on hamann webpages above, they do sell the kit for Front Springs only and some kind of link extension for the Rear Suspension., so if you buy the Hamann Kit for Self Leveling Suspension that it should be perfect for you. but since you also do NOT want the car to be too low, than maybe this Eibach kit is better for you. if you go to Eibach.com, you can try to find the correct part number for the Pro Kit that only have 2 front springs in the kit (not 4 springs). it lower the front springs 25mm/1in. Since your car is a 730iL, I think the kit from 730d will suit you the best. This is the kit number: E10-20-018-03-20 again the kit number above is for the front springs kit only. and when you try to look for F01/F02 spec, don't forget to put in European and Asian Application on the Product Line menu at Eibach.com website. because on the US application menu, they only have the E65 7 series but no F01/F02 menu... I guess Eibach is not updating their website completely.. if you have more info from your local Eibach dealer in Singapore, please let us know. Thanks |

Most of the time i drive in 'sport'-modus, because in the other settings the springs are a little bit bumpy, especially when you take speed bumps with higher speed. I' am comparing with my earlier E60 530d with sport suspension. Also in sport-modus you have a sporty handling and balance, but i don't think there is much difference with the standard springs, so the ride comfort is also still ok. Because the lowering is only 25mm, i don't have problems with scraping. Conclusion: AC Schnitzer lower springs (or Eibach Pro-kit) are perfect. |

he need to put his suspension in Sports Mode to avoid the ride being bumpy show that AC Schnitzer springs have much higher spring rate than the standard suspension. So Samlambo, perhaps it is best if you could e-mail AC Schnitzer and ask their Spring Rate, then ask Eibach for their Spring Rate and compare them. If Eibach have lower spring rate than AC Schnitzer then your ride should be not bumpy even if you left your suspension in normal mode. If you could have their spring rate data, please kindly post it here. by the way, I also would recommend you to check with Hartge for their price and spring rate. because Hartge's spring is 30mm (only a bit more lower than ACS),... with Hartge, I think you can buy direct from them... Thanks |
