Ordered mine on Feb 24th, 2009 and took delivery at the dealer on June 10th, 2009.
So about 3 1/2 month... Ryouken and I pretty much ordered our cars at the same time. Back when I placed my order, the F01/F02 was not available as an individual. The individual production started in April if I recall correctly... Also, the individual insignia on the trunk lid only became available starting with the June 2009 production run, so BMW Canada and my dealer promised and later retrofitted the chrome strip without charge. I would assume that about 3 month is what you should expect for an individual order. It's a long wait but it's definitely worth it!

Hmm... the times mentioned do not sound too hot. Seems as though the dealer that advised me it would be more like 3 months, not 6-8 weeks, may be correct based upon the feedback here. Either way, I get the point: All good things shall come in time!
Also on my mind: What happens if an Individual is involved in an accident? Is it possible for a body shop, even a BMW certified one at that, to match the paint? Last edited by dbs600; 05-04-2010 at 09:17 AM.. |

As an update: Today I heard back from a very nice saleswoman from Rallye Motors (the preeminent MB/BMW/Lexus/Acura dealer on LI). She said she spoke to a million contacts and ended up speaking directly to someone at corporate in NJ and that no, no, no was the answer to all of my questions! I asked the name of the person she spoke to and guess what – it was same less than pleasant rep I spoke to previously who deflected most all my concerns to the dealer level. I asked the saleswoman if the woman was friendly, and she said that she was not. What is up with BMW corporate!? If this is the way their Individual line is, they should consider either (1) getting a better mannered support staff as point, to address customer concerns in the right way or (2) change the name of the program entirely, as it’s not living up to it.

Have you actually tried calling or contacting BMW NA direct ?
I had no issues either with the dealership or even with BMW Canada and they made this entire process painless and rather enjoyable. My contact at my dealership knew the answers to most of my questions and if she didn't have the answer(s) she forwarded them to BMW Canada and would usually have them at the end of the day or the latest by the next business day. When my questions got a little to technical for her, she put me in touch with the guy responsible for the individual orders at BMW Canada and he answered all my questions and was always friendly and very helpful.

Hmm. I have had a different experience thus far. A contact of mine at BMW Legal referred me to the rep in question. Anyway, I spoke to her and she was hesitant to provide answers and deflected to the dealer level for the most part; I didn't want to push it with her because I was referred to her. All in all, it seems as though the saleswoman at Rallye made a valient effort to obtain answers to my questions and she ended up speaking with the same woman at corporate - who stated that all of my requests are a no go.

Have you tried to contact Mark Carsonn as I suggested on M5board.com? He has an 'very' individual M6 on Hawai and I'm 100% sure he will be able to put you in contact with the right person.
If that fails, I could try it for you in Munich I have some contacts there, but please try my suggestion first. |

Thijs: Thank you again. I did mean to reach out to Mark; I registered on M5Board, but forgot to follow through after I experienced difficulty 'activating' my account, posting new threads, sending private messages, etc. I will attempt again right now. Best, JD
Unfortunately, I've yet to place my order - Argh! These weeks are flying by! |

Does anyone have any updates on what they've done with the orange / amber reflectors on the sides of the front bumper? Specifically, has anyone been able to find replacement reflectors that are clear? Thank you!

i know from other cars you can simply have it painted and color matched from a high end body shop, I would do it however, don't want to look boy racer and too custom as I promised myself to stop tinkering with the cars.
