if they blended the extra stuff going on with the front fenders and bumper to be more flush and have the flat nose of the 3.0 CSL it would have been less odd looking

I think it looks like a pretty good start to the new Z4/Supra or a true ///M sports car.
Like the backend and the grill. Of course a production car will look different than this, not such extremes with the lines or the carbon fiber. Fixing this thing will be expensive. However, if they build it and sell for maybe just North of the M4, then why not? If you want something smaller and cheaper, get the M2. Overall, these design cues are promising. |

Remember its a Homage and therefore something that shows respect to its original idea but progressed to today's requirements in regards to aerodynamics , design and technology in order to bring forth a modern reinterpretation of an original concept but to today's standards.
It also shows how lucrative "CSL" is for BMW and how the company intended to use the legendary badge to identify the absolute pinnacle of performance and materials.

I'm nearly speechless in a bad way. Did no "homage" to the old 3.0. Looks like a bunch of spare parts.

Just looking at the first photo, I can't see how the front pays hommage to the original? Maybe it's because I don't see BMW's vision with the concept, but I thought hommage cars were supposed to be modern interpretations of classics. How can that be when you can't even see that relation straight off the bat? I think BMW missed the mark with this one and I'm a little scared of what this means for a future production car.

This is absolutely hideous. It makes a mockery of the wonderful original car in a way that I almost expect it to be from Mansory. The color is ghastly and the kidneys make the car look like a rabid squirrel. About the only positive I could find are the nice looking headlamps. The people that designed this need to be given better vision plans because its clear they're blind. The M3/4 is the best looking BMW since the E46 and BMWs recent efforts have been very solid. The makes me worried because if this is the future of BMW design I'm out.

The level of hyperbole in this thread is too damn high.
On the plus side, if everyone liked it they'd just be bitching about it not being available to buy... #bimmerpostproblems |
