We often mention and offer condolences for celebrities, but this one hits hard (pun intended). As a kid I knew of Chuck from karate magazines. When I was a teen he got into movies, and I always enjoyed watching his flicks. 86 years old, and was sparring in Hawaii just yesterday. Rest in Peace, Mr. Norris.

RIP! At least the boogeyman doesn't have to check under his bed for Chuck Norris any longer before he goes to sleep.

I read he was into keep fit with a healthy diet, so what is all this keep fit and diet stuff for if you're going to go soon anyway, RIP Chuck Norris

Not trying to bad mouth the dead, but what about him was so special to people? He has such a following, and then people created the one liners about him (admittedly, a few of them are funny for sure, but they're way out there) - I just don't really understand why he is the one that people picked to idolize.

Is there a particular movie I missed, or martial arts event or something that kind of launched him? I don't know, I certainly don't dislike him, but I never understood why he seemed to mean so much to people. I guess for me, I just lumped him into your general Hollywood people, none of whom I dislike really, but nor do I care what happens to them either.

x2,
He sure can't act. But I guess the Hollywood persona and escapism is a large part of the product. Think as a human he enjoyed fitness and trying to help others go that way. No one gets out of life alive though.

Alright, because I'm old I'll fill in the blanks for you.

Chuck Norris was a pretty good fighter that got into show business and made a bunch of cringy action movies. By the time he got to the "Walker Texas Ranger" TV series nobody could really clown him anymore because he was so much officially a clown it was played out. So, the narrative shifted the other way and the internet comedians started pimping him out like he was a folk hero like Paul Bunyan. It was funny so it stuck. I think we all miss the fun he gave us making fun of himself in the end. He never took offense at the joke he leaned into it which only made him more likeable.

RIP CN

Pretty sure he's more famous from his memes than he is from his actual acting or martial arts. I mean I know him because of the memes... I don't think I've ever seen any movie of his.

First time I saw Chuck Norris was him getting his ass kicked by Bruce Lee in Way of the Dragon in 1972. Have seen several of his movies since then. They were ok. At least they weren’t dubbed like the kung fu movies that came from Hong Kong. Never watched his TV series and thought his memes were funny, glad he did too (he said they tickled his funny bone).

BTW, Chuck made his film debut in an uncredited role as a bodyguard in Dean Martin's 1968 movie The Wrecking Crew.

He was also am all-around good guy and never succumbed to the hollyweird narcissism.

Was sad to learn of his passing, my dads kind of his doppelgänger. I used to watch Walker Texas ranger religiously in the 90’s as a kid and enjoyed it a lot, it was less corny as a kid as it may be now but created a lot of good memories. RIP

Because he was a genuine likeable and relatable person, the type of modest boy-next-door who got to Hollywood, you wouldn't mind getting a cold one with in a bar on a Friday night.
