New Member thoughts
Hello -
Glad to find an active forum for the 750. I've found them to be very helpful with my other vehicles. About to commit to a 750Li x-drive to pick up in 2 weeks. Just got out of an Audi S8. I think the 750 will provide a similar driving experience (getting M-sport package), some more torque, but I'll miss the sound of the B&O system, the lift setting for deep snow, and the sound of the V10 engine. I almost went to a Panamera Turbo, but the (still questionable) esthetics are a factor (was amazed at the 750 in person, even it looks so much better than the pics showed) the size is a factor (family is about to grow to 5 and I didn't want my most expensive car something I can't even drive the family in). Also, as I'm putting a Turbo in my Cayman S, I wasn't sure if I needed 2 scary fast cars (I have 8K track miles on the Cayman, that's where you can really get the use out of them!) So, I look forward to being a member. I'd sure like to explore some mods on the 750 to tune it although it looks like Dinan won't be taking it up real quick. I need help: (maybe this would be a good sticky post) it would be great if all the "nagging issues" of new 750's were posted in one spot. I'm 400 miles from my dealer, and would like to be sure to check out any common rattles, noises, or other issues (like rear seat entertainment not coming with headphones) etc. I'll be driving it locally for a couple days, but if I can give my salesman a list of things to check out ahead of time, that would be great. Thanks everyone. John

Hi John,
welcome to the forum! Other than some minor software issues, I have not had any other issues with my car to date (picked mine up beginning of June 2009). The rear seat entertainment system SHOULD come with two wireless headphones (at least that's the way it is in Canada). Talk to your sales rep. They need to order the headsets through after sales. Hope this helps.

Picking up my 750Lxi tomorrow.......looks like I'll find out what the new car glitches may be. Luckily I'll be in town for a few days in case of some crazy noise or something.
Getting excited!

Congrats on the new car!
I hope you didn't order the Luxury Rear Seating Package since that limits the car to only 4-place seating (instead of 5). I made that mistake thinking that the rear seat package would be similar to the S-Class which still maintains a seatbelt for the middle seat in the rear.

Yeah, I didn't. 4 seats was a strike against the Panamera as well. Thanks for the head's up.

I'll get pics posted I know, I know. Hey, this forum doesn't have the Smilie: THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!
Whew. Car is awesome. Man, there is a lot to learn on this thing! Love it. After another day or so, I'll be able to really post my impressions.

Yeah, that's the Smilie!
S8 - great car, but mine was defective, and by the time Audi got around to taking it back, there weren't any more to be found. It was my second Audi, last was an A8L. Things happen for a reason. To be honest, I like the 750 better. Same torque, 750 has lower HP rating. I do admit, I miss the sound of the V10, the B&O sound system, and the adjustable height air suspension. So many things about the 750 are better, and with an exhaust upgrade, could get a more aggressive sound. Oh, and Carbon Fiber interior would be nice in the 750. The 750's sound ($600 upgrade?) is reasonably close to B&O $6000. The 750 has more aggressive engine mapping than the S8 in Normal mode, when both are in Sport its comparable, but the 750 accellerates more smoothly. I've got the (exact) same snowtires on the 750 that were on the S8 the last time I drove it 2 weeks ago. I think that XDrive is better than Quattro, and 4Matic in the slick stuff. The 750 seems more planted, it slips so much less, its almost as though XDrive is working smarter than other systems. A quick look at YouTube video comparisons would show that in tests others have found the same when testing side to side. Its a big car, side to side with the S8, it was much larger in every dimension. However, the 750's engine and setup makes it feel much smaller. Color is Dark Graphite - I know in the pics it looks black.

So I assume you had them fit your winter tires from your S8 onto the M style rims of the 750?!?
BTW, your car looks great! And thanks for the comparison between the S8 and 750. It's always interesting to read these kind of comparison when they are written by actual owners of these cars!

The only plus for S8 is the option of ceramic brakes... The sound of the exhaust is exciting too, but the v10 doesn t perform better than bmw's v8... The bimmer design is also much better
Btw, your car looks very good Thx for sharing the pics |

Yes, Sottozeros from the S8 are on the 750.
You can see my post on Winter Tire Size Bias where I was going through the options, I decided to see if this would work as Pirelli was out of one of the stock sizes for the 750.

If that's the case, are those the rims that normally have the summer performance tires on them? I remember that your sotto zero front and rear tires are the same width (265), but the rims that normally have the summer performance tires on them are staggered (245 front, 275 rear). I also assume the sotto zeros are run flat types?

but OP im glad you are happy with your purchase. Cant agree with you on the sound system front, I think the premium system in the 7 is AWFUL. But... to each his own. |

I have Pirelli Sotto Zero II Winter Tires on my car right now, they are RFTs and I like them a lot. Quiet ride and good traction. So I assume you will just have them switch out the rubber once it gets warmer for your summer performance tires then?

Yeah, I'm snowtires on 4 cars (you see them listed). Blizzak's (different ones) on the Porsche, MB, and Cruiser, and I've had sottozeros on 2 Audis, and now the 750.
I switch them out spring and fall. Where I live, its pretty serious winter. For example - I was in my Cayman in Minneapolis today, getting ready to load in a trailer (to become a Turbo!) and I was on a flat, plowed, snowy surface, and the car just sat there and rear wheels spun. With Blizzaks, its SO much better. Snowtires make a huge difference. So, I had to pull the F350 (no snowtires) with trailer (with Cayman) up a hill with my GL (Blizzaks) because it was spinning.....absolutely no problem at all. So, I love Sottozero's, I've had them on 2 cars before, my Dad has them on his 997 Turbo, just an awesome tire. By the way, drove the 750 around again all day in snow and freezing rain, and jeez - this car is awesome.
