2012 F02 M Series picked up today
Traded in our beloved 2008 Cayenne turbo for this car today. So far, impressed with the power delivery and the plethora of features. The wife really wanted a Quattroporte but of the 6 on the dealer lot only 2 would start and function. The S-class Mercs get completely redone next year and the current ones seemed somewhat boring to drive compared to the new 7's. The last BMW we owned was a trusty 1999 528 sport with manual transmission that we loved. Hopefully this one will be true to the marque. Hopefully after learning the car the first order of business will be to extract some exhaust note out of the car. Wife thinks its way too quiet. Later on an ECU flash will follow. Cheers

Can you tell us an easy way to get a better exhaust note?

We looked at 2010 and 2011 Quattroports and 2009 2010 Gran Turismos. No longer a consideration!

the older F01 exhausts appeared to be modular. Mine is a single welded piece from the manifolds on back. That being said I am going to have someone fab a straight pipe center section out of 70mm stainless with an integral "H" or "X" crossover, retaining the factory rear mufflers. I would guess this would cost less than $500 to make. BMW sells the slip joint clamps for the earlier style modular exhausts, and so we can use 4 factory clamps to stitch the new center section in place and still look factory. I can have this jigged up so many units could be made pretty easily.

No, the LCI has not been released yet... I would assume the 2013 production (starting in March of 2012) will be the LCI version.

Beautiful car. Thanks for posting these pics. Would love to see more if you get around to taking any. I'm picking up a 2012 740Li in Munich next month, and it'll also have the M-Sport package (and every other feature except rear entertainment pkg).
And @BMWrules7 -- just as XDrive50i said, the LCI package is going to debut in March 2012. I've heard rumors that it would be publicly unveiled next month in Frankfurt (at the same time the new F30 is unveiled) since both the F30 and LCI F01/F02 will ship in volume starting in March 2012, but it's just a rumor at this point.
