Lol. Better if they just redesigned the entire thing inside out. It looks bland and outdated already (from the leaks and renderings(. I would really like to see how much weight they save in real world. Others have achieved 400+ lbs weight savings without resorting to CFRP.

Yes but this is how you have seen it... In the shadows,on shipping blocks and non-flattering wheels , at an angle , with no profile straight ahead and details and quality virtually shot in the dark.
You may think you have seen the car but really you have not.

Good news is people involved were injured and no one lost their life, but god forbid someone sees the new 7 series uncovered. Really BMW? is it that serious to cover a crashed car?

This "evolution"ary design is not looking great. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed, too. Somewhat of a safe play in design language these days. Sadly, ppl will still line upto buy this. I wish Porsche would make a decent sedan (not like a panamera) and turn up the heat on the competition.. will be good for us fans.

The velocity is a LOT more important than mass. Double the velocity, and the kinetic energy goes up 400%. |

Yes, but momentum is only practically useful for calculating a transference of energy from one mass to another. The really tell tale calculation would be the total ENERGY of the impact:
kinetic energy = ½mv² In the energy equation, the speed of the car is more influential than the mass. If you DOUBLE the speed of the car, you actually increase its impact energy by FOUR times. (This is not easily seen in the momentum equation). (Same goes for braking. A car traveling twice the speed will take about four times the distance to stop. The differences between Dynamic Friction vs Static Friction notwithstanding...) |

Stuttgart is home to VW, Porsche and Benz. When I lived there I always went by the Benz and Porsche factories to see if I could catch any glimpses of upcoming models.
I agree with the poster of the thread above. What was a Northerner doing down in Stuttgart so late at night in a camo-7? |

Ask any one of BMW's direct marketing agencies who travel to Munich every other week: scott26 and scott27 are carefully managed marketing vehicles for the super fans - to create buzz and talk value. Not an exciting private leak at all, if you were lead to believe it was in the first place. I only said committee because EVERYTHING at BMW is consensus driven, including what to do as part of the online engagement campaign this quarter. No issue in itself, I quite look forward to the marketing ditties from our particular friend. Wish i could get one of his reports back to the mothership?
