Went to a private U.S. Market 7 Series debut at BMW HQ in Woodcliff Lake and thought I'd post. I know the BMW CCA guys are going tomorrow; maybe someone can add to this?
- 200 lbs lighter - Only one chassis length. 750i is about 1" longer than current 750Li for more rear-seat legroom. - panoramic sunroof standard. LED edge-lit sunroof has etched pattern in glass to capture the illumination. - tons of ambient lighting... Even the speaker cones are lit up! - single-piece window trim on rear doors. - executive rear seat option has touchscreen control in center armrest; massage seats. - lots of satin silver metal all over. - 0-60 4.6 seconds for 750i They had a 750i, a 7 series Individual, and down the hall in a blacked out garage... A Alpine White M Sport line 7 series.

thanks for that. Do you have any info on the 740d engine power and other characteristics?
Is the build quality any better? on the photos looks - to me - more like an LCI than a new model. Do photo's do it justice or its evolution - with a very similar body shape - rather than revolution? thanks! |

The Active Cruise Control is improved on the new 7. It will offer the option of setting the speed to be relative to the posted speed limit. In other words, you can set your speed to 15 mph over the posted speed limit and it will adjust itself if the limit changes.

Was at the event last night. Incredible prevention, and damn those hors d'oeuvres were good!
Seriously, though, the car is spectacular. I don't know if I can reveal everything, but here are some key things I remember: - Bower & Wilkins Sound System: First car to ever have a diamond tweeter - Samsung tablet (removable) in the back that can control the car's iDrive - 8 different massages at three different intensities - new fragrance system - almost a rainbow of colors to choose from for mood lighting - light curtain emerges when the door is opened alongside the car, very classy look. - kidney grilles have functioning slats that close and open depending on speed - 360 view with cameras when parking - car can control steering and speed for up to 15 seconds at low speeds if driver takes hands off the wheel - Gesture control, very unique, e.g. you can change volume by rotating your finger clockwise/counter-clockwise That's all i remember for now, will try to add later. Hope this helps. p.s. The car looks spectacular, way better than those leaked pics. Very sleek and slender, and the M-Sport looks mean. Although I personally don't care for chrome much and could do without it, it isn't extremely tacky on the car.

The leaked patent renders of the M Sport reveal that holes are drilled above the front air intakes to attach pieces of trim, were they chrome or gloss black?

I am getting bored of the 5 series so I am thinking about a 6GC or 7 series but the competitive finance on the panamera is very tempting. BMW better pull out all the stops on the new 7 or i will be moving on

I have the 2015 M6 GC CP which is a great car, but in reality you just can't blast it often here, so I am looking at a 7 series IF it has a good diesel engine.

Not new. Side shades have been motorized for at least the last two generations of 7-series.
It's observations like the above that make me wish someone who currently owns a 7-series and intimately understands the existing options list (through daily use) would make it out to one of these events and report, comparatively, on the new features vs. existing features on F01/F02 models. Guess we'll have to wait until 10 June to see for ourselves (if that rumor is true).

Random thoughts from the event:
Not a fan of the chrome "hockey stick" trim on the bottom of the car. It's also chrome on the M Sport trim Also, there is a program in the back seat utilizing the tablet and mounted screens for a "vitality" program. Essentially, it tells you to apply pressure by pushing back on different parts of your body to help relieve stress and relax your muscles on long drives. The diamond stitching quality is superior. I remember working for MB and being blown away by the diamond stitching in the S65 AMG. I got the same feeling in this new 7. The Samsung tablet in the back can control the interior lighting, shades, multimedia and HVAC. On the backside of the front passenger seat, there is a footrest that fold down so the person sitting directly behind can lounge with feet up when nobody is sitting upfront. The Interactive Key Fob is awesome. Shows stats on the car like fuel range, temperature, location, and many other features. Basically works like an iPhone where you "swipe" to unlock and flip through options. Foldaway tray table in the back seat that stores away in the center console. The $20 Peruvian dark chocolate bar they gave out at the end of the event was delicious lol Nobody even knew there was an i8 that was open for everyone to view outside That's all I got for now. Will update as I remember more. |
