Mine wants to be my friend more than anything and never provides any direction on anything. Its always, "What do you think you should do?" If I knew what to do, I wouldnt ask you fucker.

It is nice cause since he wants to be my best friend, I dont really have to tell him what Im doing ever. Last week I "worked from home" almost every day with no questions asked.

Don't even get me started. I do have plenty of rants about past bosses.

Ah, what the hell. I am doing IT security analysis for a major bank, for which they are planning on having certain systems able to be controlled by corporate... Every time I submit the analysis documents, he always asks very specific questions for stuff I later found out was not even remotely important, or is self-explanatory.

e.g. I could put "Lighting controls: No BMS* found, traditional manual switch" in the report, which even a 5 year-old can understand.
*Building Management System

Supervisor on the phone: "So there's no BMS for the lights?"

Me (on the surface): No sir.

Me (deep down): WHAT FUCKING PART OF "NO BMS FOUND" DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?!? THIS IS THE 20TH SITE ANALYSIS THAT USES NORMAL LIGHT SWITCHES!!!!!"

...Then I find out that they change the terms of the contract and ask if there is anything linked to a dedicated control network and won't even need to probe every single piece of equipment for serial numbers, which would've saved me 30 minutes per site and have less time on the phone answering obvious questions.

But seriously, my last boss was a straight-arrow OK dude. We got along well and I felt that he was pretty fair with task assignments. Also, he did not micro-manage me.

And we still do lunch!
