Ceramic coating / detailing
So with just over 36k miles on my '16 reg 7...I've been wondering about trying to maintain/apply some paint protection to keep her looking good...
Question to those in the know: how often do you need to apply a ceramic coating? (is it once for life or each year? Other?) Is it worth applying it at this stage if it hasn't been done before? Do you get the car detailed beforehand or is that part of the service when it gets the coating applied? Sorry for the newbie questions but appreciate any feedback / options to keep her looking good. Thank you for your help and comments in advance! (feel very lucky with this 7, as (knocks on wood) not a scratch on her I can see and still not curbed the wheels (although they are ugly, they are inset quite far compared to the tire so this helps greatly!) and the paint and panels still seem to look great IMO... Pics: taken last night after finally having her clean again!

I have Gtechniq on the 7 and 22ple on the Aston. Aston was applied by a professional detailer since it had a full car clear bra. I did the 7 myself. I personally like the Gtecniq, my guess is it will last 2-3 years. I did the Crystal Serum light plus EXOV3 on top of it. The 22ple should last 4-5 years is my guess.
To get the best out of the ceramic coating you will need to do a decontamination/claybar/correction/polishing of your paint. 7 is a big car and it will take a little while to do it. If you have a professional do the polish plus coating you will be looking at $1000 - $1500 but their version of the coating should last 4-5 years. Hope that helps. To take care of leather use Leatherique, I will some pics of the leatherique difference. |

Thanks cracker123, very much appreciated.
I'll look to get it done somewhere here in the UK professionally so will have to check around and hope that others post that have done it here. Appreciate the info and would welcome the leather pics...my white interior is holding up very well to be honest (knocks on wood), just had to wipe it and keep it vacuumed but not had to do much cleaning. (but no kids and no dirty clothes in the car either as mostly just me doing long motorway journeys. Cheers, safe travels.

I have one more round left on the leatherique for the drivers seat. I did the entire car and it is pretty long but nothing comes close to leatherique. The seats look better than new . You need to do it on a hot day. Check out the following youtube video.
