Love it! Love this car! Because ///M failed to develop an all new kind of proper ///M engine for the F90 M5, this 6.6L V12 is the best engine BMW makes right now. And that sound it makes!! Glorious V12 sound! The sound and smoothness of the V12 makes the reduced agility of the car worth it. Therefore I feel the M760i is a better buy versus the M5. The engine defines the very character and soul of an ///M even if it's not a "Full ///M" and this M760i has a bespoke soul that is hard to find in other BMW's these days.

The f90 is a monster, a wonderful car to be in! Recently had the pleasure to test drive one locally. If you haven't, I strongly urge you to. The engine and updates the car has received are nothing short of amazing, as is usually the case with the m5.

Not bad, not bad.
Definitively a first class ride in a bit of a sporty feeling v M5 where it's a sport class ride in a bit of a luxury feeling. |

The last 7er to truly have a dominating road presence was the E65 LCI. What a perfect looking sedan. |

Considering this is the same engine that they use for the Wraith and other RR I feel its more of the same, all cars in the BMW group are sharing engines. The days of the bespoke M engines or model specific engines are long gone...

I plan to get one of these CPO in 3 years when they're $60k. An absolutely imposing car in person

Despite the two sharing development, the S85/S65 are really the only engines sold in street BMWs that were 100% conceived at M GmbH, hence why the word "bespoke" is often used to describe them. Every other M-engine is ultimately derived from something else that doesn't have origins in the M works. S55 from N55 S63 from N63 S62 from M62 S54 from S50, which itself has origins in the M50...and then from here, ultimately the M30 and M10 blocks (which is the same story with the S14, S38, M88). With that being said, I agree with your perspective, that BMW and BMW M as of late is just into what I like to call "lazy engineering". But that was expected when the whole company abandoned NA engines. It's so much easier and cost-effective to use modular/generic platforms and modify and tune FI engines for various applications than to dedicate resources to a build one that is only used for one type of application. Building an all-motor engine and optimizing it for a chassis is a much finer art, but that ship has sailed a decade ago. An M V12 would certainly be nice (i'd love to see a V12 8er again), but unfortunately, it doesn't fit into the current BMW portfolio, which is highly dependent on fitting neatly within market segments instead of really pushing boundaries.

I think the V-12 is amazing but at this price stratosphere and in the realm of expensive BMW, I think I would prefer the Alpina B7.
