How much is the fine for speeding in the UK?
I was on a road which I've been driving on for years, and all of the sudden I see a mobile camera van. I'm not sure which side of the road he was targeting nor what speed I was doing.
I’m hoping I escaped, but I’m wondering. I've already had a speeding course about a year ago. Given that, what would the penalty be for me if I were cited for this incident? Reading around, everyone has a different opinion on this. |

How fast were you going and what was the limit...?
Latest fines and bands are here... https://www.evo.co.uk/news/18773/uk-...es-for-drivers I got caught at 77 in a 50 on a Dual Carriageway in April this year and got 6 points and £800 fine. Fines are now banded and calculated based on your weekly wage. Capped at £1000 or £2000 if it's on the motorway. |

Was he on your side of the road, camera facing you?
What road was it, you can check the limits online somewhere. I used google maps to confirm speed limit signs on my offence. If they can see you, they can measure you. |

yes he was on my side of the road but the corner where he was parked I would imagine is close to where you would start to brake. I will Google to see what the limit is

The media blew it all waaay out of proportion as usual and hinted that ALL fines were now means tested. They're not. The system would fall over if everyone had to submit proof of earnings every time they got a speeding ticket. |

Is that about 1000$ USD? In Atlanta GA you can do 29mph over in a school zone and only get a 555$ fine. You could do 90mph in a 65mph zone with road construction and only get 555$. They will then reduce it if its your first ticket and allow you to plea nolo to keep it off your record. |
