HUD feature idea
Does anyone else wish you could toggle the HUD on when headlights are on and off when they are not? I am totally unwilling to go unpolarized and I have to switch the HUD off and on every day. It's great at night but during the day useless with sunglasses on.
Just an idea. Maybe they will fix in a future model. I have a '16 anyway. |

I could not read the HUD with sunglasses that are polarized -- until I found serengeti drivers. There is just a very slight dimming of the HUD but other wise it is fine and the Serengeti's are otherwise great. Apparently they have a different way to polarize that does not block the HUD. (I am not affiliated with Serengeti in any way).

But wouldn't that be the same as using the HUD's on/off button? It will be doing the same thing...turning the HUD on or off with a press of one button.
Educate me (because I don't have a pair of polarized sunglasses)...why do you need/want to turn it off during the day when you're wearing your sunglasses? If you can't see it (the HUD info)...why does it matter if its on or off? (seriously not trying to be a jerk...just trying to understand the issue)

Not sure why if you can't see the HUD with your polarised glasses why you would need to turn it off surely it wouldn't matter.
I never had an issue with the HUD on my M3 even with polarised glasses it would just dim slightly but you can turn the wick up on the brightness.

Lately have been using CarPlay but I think I like stock nav better. I am probably in vast minority. Also, turning brightness up doesn't have much effect for me. It's still too dim to see without angling my head. |

Wait you can turn the HUD on and off using one of the presets? How? If you set it, would it take you to the menu in the iDrive to turn it on and off, or would it actually turn it on/off at the touch of the button?
This would be extremely helpful to know. |

nowadays cars use AC to dehumidify the interior air, even in the winter. It also decreases mold growth in the air ducts, and therefor the musty smell. It turns on/off automatically, just like home, so for most people it's easier just to leave it on by default.
